Kirk Waligora, the speedy outfielder who was released by the Bobcats after Tuesday's game to make room for pitching help from Ethan Utley, has signed with a wood bat league in Arizona.
According to Jerry Waligora, Kirk's father, the Fenton, Mich., native will play with the Arizona Antelopes of the Arizona Collegiate Wood Bat League. Their games begin June 15 in Phoenix.
A 19-year-old left-handed bat, Waligora is hoping to transfer from Lansing (Mich.) Community College.
"Kirk has been recruited by a couple D-1 schools that were watching him on the site," his father told the Bobcats.
