Meantime, four of Owensboro's seven runs given up by Bobcats hurler Bo Daves (0-1) were unearned, coming off two errors in the third that allowed three runs to score and another in the fourth that led to one run. Daves' three earned runs came from a three-run home run in the fourth off the bat of Cody Pack.
Justin O'Brien, the starter last Friday in Marion's only win of the season, pitched four innings, striking out eight and and giving up only one hit. On offense, Marion's two hits came from pinch hitters Drew Barrett in the eighth and Mike Rizzuto in the ninth. Both hits were off reliever Skyler Shown, who gave up a run in the eighth on a fielder's choice RBI by Austin Messersmith.
With the win, the Oilers gained sole possession of first place in the KIT League standings with a 4-1 record, while Marion dropped to 1-4 on the season.
