Bobcats split final two games of Greyhound series

After dropping the first contest of a three-game set at Union City, the Bobcats and Greyhounds swapped 4-2 wins on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Josh Reynolds evened his record at 1-1, pitching two scoreless innings for the win after Marion took a 3-2 lead over Union City in the seventh. Justin O'Brien pitched the ninth for his first save of the season, preserving only the fourth win for the Bobcats after 12 games.
On offense, Rob Dyer drove in two runs in the top of the seventh with a double. Jake Martin and Drew Barrett, who went 3-for-5 on the night, each added an RBI. Mitch McClay also contributed three hits to the 12 tallied by the Bobcats in the best night at the plate for the team this season.
The next evening, however, Union City returned the favor, defeating Marion 4-2 on a stellar performance by Drew Hayes. Hayes, a Vanderbilt Univeristy teammate of Marion's Andrew Harris, went eight innings, allowing only one run on one hit while striking out nine. Rob Dyer remained hot at the plate and was the only Bobcat to touch Hayes, scoring Daniel Pugh in the top of the fourth with a double.
With the loss, starter Bo Daves dropped to 0-2 on the season for Marion. Ethan Utley pitched two scoreless innings, holding a 0.00 ERA since joining the team late due to a broken hand.
