Sikeston has struck out on two attempts to host the Bobcats this season, with the second rainout in less than two weeks postponing Marion's Monday's 120-mile trip to VFW Memorial Stadium.
In fact, all KIT League games slated for Monday were postponed due to rain and poor field conditions. Because Marion's two-game series with Sikeston was home-and-away, Tuesday's game at Gordon B. Guess Field will be played as scheduled, with a 7:05 p.m., first pitch. However, a make-up date for Monday's rainout at Sikeston has yet to be scheduled. A June 4 rainout between the two clubs has already been slated for July 26 – the last day before the playoffs begin – only if the outcome could affect playoff seeding.
For other KIT League clubs, Tuesday will be a day befitting Ernie Banks. All teams will complete their two-game series in double-header action. Fulton will begin its two-for at Union City beginning at 5:30 p.m., while Tradewater will host Owensboro for two games beginning at 5 p.m. All double header games are final after seven innings.
So far in 2009, Marion is the only team to escape double-header play.
